  Q. What is a "conservation district?"  
 

Conservation districts are local units of government dedicated to land and water conservation and protection. They are established under Minnesota State Statute and governed by an elected board of supervisors representing various parts of the county. The Scott Soil and Water Conservation District in Jordan was established on July 25, 1941.

  Q. Who do I call regarding wildlife nuisance conerns or issues?  
  The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources staffs an office in Jordan and will be able to help you. The phone number is 952-492-4141. You can also check out various fact sheets at www.dnr.state.mn.us/livingwith_wildlife on how to co-exist with wild critters in your area.

 
  Q. How healthy is the stream near my property?  
  Scott SWCD staff monitors some (not all) streams in Scott County. Jaime Rockney has information and recent reports on various waterways in Scott County.

 
  Q. Who can I talk to about buckthorn, thistles or knapweed control?  
  Scott SWCD does not have an active weed control program. However, you may contact the Scott County Noxious Weed Inspector for basic weed identification and other reference information or technical assistance, (952) 496-8497.

 
  Q. Are there funding opportunities or grants to help pay for my project?  
  We have some wonderful, working partnerships in place with cities, townships and local watershed districts as well as county, state and federal agencies who can assist you with funding conservation projects. Call us for more information, (952) 492-5425.
